The Roulis is Hermès at its most quietly clever. Introduced under Jean Paul Gaultier’s creative direction as the house’s retrofuturist study in restraint, it pairs clean minimalist lines with the rounded “Chaîne d’Ancre” bar clasp, a subtle nod to Hermès’ nautical heritage. In the Mini format it becomes something close to jewelry, and executed in lizard it moves into genuinely rare territory. This example is finished in Vert Cypress, color code 6O, one of the deepest and most sophisticated greens in the Hermès palette, a shade that reads nearly black in low light and reveals its full forest depth in the sun. Lizard is among the most technically demanding skins Hermès works with, and the fine, tightly aligned scale structure across a piece this small reflects a level of artisanal difficulty typically reserved for very limited production. Palladium hardware keeps the tone cool and modern against the rich green, and the convertible strap takes the bag easily from shoulder to crossbody.
The rounded bar clasp is one of the Roulis’ quiet advantages, it has no large flat surfaces to catch light and reveal scratches the way an H or turn-lock closure does, which means the piece wears beautifully over time. A collector-level exotic in one of the most coveted colorways Hermès produces.
