De Bethune DB25 GMT Starry Varius

Now live: the De Bethune DB25 GMT Starry Varius in polished titanium. Its dial is a night sky of heat-blued titanium set with white gold stars, and its second time zone is shown by a small rotating sphere, rose gold by day and blued steel by night. A hand-wound in-house caliber, like-new condition, and one of the most poetic travel watches in independent watchmaking.

Why It Matters

Few brands have turned a dial into a signature the way De Bethune has with the Starry Varius. The technique is entirely its own: titanium is mirror polished, heat-blued to a deep, even midnight, then set by hand with individual white gold stars. The result has a depth and glow that lacquer and enamel cannot reproduce.

The DB25 GMT adds a useful complication without disturbing that sky. Rather than a second hand or subdial, home time is shown by a microsphere traveling a 24-hour track. Its rose gold face shows during daylight hours and its blued steel face at night, doubling as a day and night indicator.

It is a precise summary of what makes De Bethune collectable: technical invention used in service of beauty.

This Example

Like new, with virtually no signs of wear. The polished titanium case and hollowed buttress lugs are clean, the dial is flawless and the hand-wound DB2507 runs as expected.
