Now live: a 2023 Hermès Kelly Cut in shiny Rose Sheherazade alligator with palladium hardware, unworn and complete with its box, dust bags and tag. The Kelly Cut distills the house’s most famous closure into a slim, elongated clutch, and in polished alligator, with the deep raspberry red of J5 Rose Sheherazade, it becomes one of the most striking evening pieces Hermès makes.
The Kelly is the oldest of the great Hermès bags, and its sangle and turn-lock are among the most recognizable details in fashion. The Kelly Cut keeps those two elements and removes almost everything else: no top handle, no gussets, no structured body. What remains is a long, flat clutch with the sangle running across its face, the Kelly reduced to a single line.
That simplicity makes the skin the whole story. On a flat panel, polished alligator lies uninterrupted from edge to edge, the large central scales reading as one continuous surface. Hermès finishes shiny alligator by hand to a deep, glassy gloss, and it remains among the most demanding and tightly allocated skins the house works with.
Color completes it. Rose Sheherazade, code J5, is a deep raspberry pink with saturated red undertones that moves from jewel-toned to almost crimson as the light changes. Against palladium hardware it reads cool and precise rather than sweet.
Dated 2023 by its box label, unworn, with the original felt protector still in place. It comes as a full set: orange box with the original Hermès label, dust bag, small dust pouch and tag.
