Now live: an MB&F Legacy Machine 101 in 18k white gold with the purple dial, 2021 edition. The LM101 distills Max Büsser’s Legacy Machine idea to its essence, a 14mm balance wheel floating above the dial, and it was the first MB&F movement developed entirely in-house. Like new, complete set, plus a custom purple strap.
MB&F built its name on Horological Machines, wildly unconventional watches that look like spacecraft and insects. The Legacy Machines, launched in 2011, asked a different question: what would MB&F have made a century earlier? The LM101 arrived in 2014 as the most focused version of that idea. A smaller 40mm case, a simpler display and that oversized flying balance as the centerpiece. It was also a milestone for the brand, MB&F’s first movement designed fully in-house.
It has become the entry point to MB&F for many serious collectors, and the color editions are where the model is most expressive.
The purple CVD plate shifts from deep plum to bright lavender as the light changes. The white gold case is sharp and the crystal clear, and the watch has clearly been worn with care and stored properly. Straps, papers, inner and outer boxes and shipping carton are all present, along with a custom purple strap that transfers with the watch.
